First American edition, eighth printing hardcover copy of Matilda by Roald Dahl (Viking Kestrel, 1988). A very rare early copy of this beloved classic children’s novel by the author of BFG / Charlie & The Chocolate Factory / The Fantastic Mr, Fox - and many others. Jacket is protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with some mild rubbing to faces and slight shelf wear around the edges. Boards slightly soiled towards outer edges from handling and with mildly bumped corners but are otherwise straight and clean. Subtle lean to spine though binding remains firm. All pages are clean and unmarked save for previous owner’s name written on front endpaper. See photos for condition.
